The Hospitalist staff physician would function as the facility's medical officers during WHEN hour shifts. WHEN hours are as follows:weekends, holidays, evenings and nights. The candidate will be responsible for our Urgent Care as well as for clinical management of admissions and discharges on our inpatient and extended care units. The incumbentsis responsible for overall clinical leadership during his/her assigned duty hours. He/she must maintain BLS and ACLS.
The selected physician will contribute to the achievement of patient satisfaction and quality of care standards as well as write orders for diagnostic testing, prescribe medications, consult with specialty services, and utilize computerized/electronic medical records. The ideal candidate is Board Certified (or eligible if recent residency graduate) in Internal Medicine or Family Practice; and, must be proficient in the use of computerized systems related to patient care. Proficiency in spoken and written English is required. Physicians are covered under the Tort Claims Protection Act.
Salary: Applicant's education and experience will be reviewed by a Professional Standards Board and Compensation Panel (for physicians) in determining the grade and salary of the applicant selected. The recommended salary may be at any point in the range listed for this vacancy.

Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Completion of a first-year residency, or its equivalent, approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which it was completed.
Proficiency in spoken and written English.
