The University of Minnesota Department of Pediatrics seeks a full-time physicians scholar at the Assistant Professor rank to join the active, cutting-edge Pediatric Obesity Medicine Program, comprised of the Pediatric Weight Management Clinics and well-funded research. The physician scholar's primary duty will be to deliver subspecialty clinical care, along with the multidisciplinary team, to children and adolescents with severe obesity in the Clinics, which includes the Adolescent Bariatric Surgery Program and the Family Weight Management Clinic. Further, this physician scholar will participate in team-based clinical research focused on pediatric obesity. He/she will have responsibility for the education of medical students, residents, and fellows.
The qualified candidate will be a board certified pediatrician (or board-eligible). Experience in managing pediatric severe obesity, particularly in the context of a multidisciplinary program, is preferred. Board certification by the American Board of Obesity Medicine is also preferred. Candidates completing a pediatric residency, but lacking training in Obesity Medicine may qualify for a 6-month paid training period in anticipation of becoming board certified by the America Board of Obesity Medicine.
