Required Qualifications: All physicians must possess an active license in any state or territory in United States, and must maintain privileges at all times at VA Medical Center, Fargo, to be able to work as a physician. Physicians must be board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine and appropriate subspecialty (as applicable) and maintain professional competency as indicated in their delineation of privileges. All physicians must maintain current BLS certification, and ACLS certification if indicated per medical center policies.
Position Overview: The Fargo VA Health Care System is looking for a full-time Board Certified/Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Practice as a Hospitalist to provide care to veterans. Incumbent performs the primary clinical duties of a Physician (Hospitalist) in a medical center. Primary duties included evaluating patients admitted to Medical Service for inpatient management and disposition. Incumbent works closely with medical and surgical consultants and primary care physicians to ensure that inpatients receive continuous high quality care. Other duties may include occasional general medical consultation, and participation in routine quality assurance work which may impact Medical Service. Incumbent is responsible for providing the most effective delivery of patient care services throughout the Medical Center.
Full-time Work Schedule: 7 days on; 7 days off. 12 hour shifts.
Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Preferred Experience: Board certification or possess equivalent training and experience. Prior work experience as a Hospitalistpreferred.
