Suncoast Hospice was established in 1977 by a group of volunteers who realized the value of hospice care and wanted to bring it to their community. As a member of Empath Health, we are a nonprofit organization that provides care, compassion and comfort to thousands of Pinellas County residents.
The Senior Staff Nurse of Pediatric Services Provides overall leadership to the Children’s Community Programs. Responsible for implementing the organization’s strategic goals, assessing productivity and service delivery of the pediatric staff. Works with community partners to expand access to care. Collaborates with Empath Home Health’s Manager/Director of Nursing to ensure clinical and regulatory compliance with all pediatric home health patients. Assists with grant writing and securing additional funding for the program. Will also maintain a small caseload, providing back up the full time pediatric RN. Must have strong strategic and business skills.
Other essential functions and responsibilities of this position include: 1. Collaborate with the supervisor to establish annual goals for pediatric services consistent with the overall strategic plan of the agency. 2. Initiate and develop continuous quality improvement procedures and tools to ensure ongoing highest standard of care for all clients and families. 3. Monitor staff efficiency, productivity, budget effectiveness, and cost containment and take action to remedy deficiencies. 4. Maintain a small caseload in order to provide back up to pediatric nurse 5. Work with supervisor to assess program to determine any area of need. Develop new programs and services based on identified need and revenue to support new services. Work with community/business partners to ensure integration of care delivery. 6. Assist with securing all avenues of reimbursement, including grant funding, and third party payers. 7. Develop an annual budget for pediatric services and maintain program within budget. 8. Responsible for screening, interviewing, selecting, orienting, and evaluating staff 9. Assure quality and integrity of all clinical records as appropriate for this spectrum of programs. 10. Actively participate in all management and departmental meetings as assigned. 11. Develop and update policy and procedures to ensure Joint Commission compliance. 12. Work collaboratively with Empath Home Health’s Manager/DON to ensure clinical expertise and regulatory and compliance for all pediatric home health patients. 13. Provide other services as requested by the Vice President of Innovation and Community Health.
