Mayo Clinic legal counsel provides legal advice and counsel for a world-class, non-profit, academic medical center and affiliated health care system. The position will be responsible for providing legal advice and counsel in the areas of general health law with a primary emphasis on complex medical/scientific research issues and government reimbursement/Medicare and Medicaid regulatory issues. Must have ability to manage multiple client relationships, with an understanding of and willingness to meet clientsâ™ needs and business goals in a dynamic, team-based, multi-state, corporate legal department.
Qualifications The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five yearsâ™ experience to include advising clients on general health law and regulatory matters in the healthcare industry. Experience in one or more of the following practice areas preferred: health law, complex medical/scientific research regulations and government reimbursement/Medicare and Medicaid regulatory issues. Will retain and manage outside counsel, participate in staff education and may serve on institutional committees and task forces as needed. A strong academic background, as well as excellent interpersonal, communication, and writing skills are required. Must be an effective team player with a commitment to continuous professional improvement. Candidates should have sound legal project management skills and the ability to effectively lead teams, serve as a positive change agent, and delegate work in a fast-paced, team-based environment within a dynamic organization.
License or certification Requires completion of law school and a license to practice law in the state of residence; must be eligible for a license in Minnesota.
