Responsible for performing histological procedures to aid in diagnosis, research and instruction. Serves as Team Leader in department by aiding in training, monitoring workflow and initiating safety and compliance activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepares tissue samples for routine microscopic analysis.
Maintains and operates laboratory equipment according to manufacturer recommendations and procedures.
Initiates and participates in quality, safety and compliance programs.
Serves as primary trainer and mentor to new and existing staff.
Serves as leader for the department.
Demonstrates advanced problem solving/troubleshooting skills.
Education: Completion of an accredited Histotechnology Program or BA/BS degree in a science field required.
Experience: 3 years relevant experience. Experience in a Histopathology Lab and knowledge of performing routine, complex, and specialized tests preferred.
License/Certification: HT (ASCP) or HTL (ASCP) Certification
