POSITION SUMMARY: The acute care RN float will work 8 hour night shifts for ED, ICU, TCU and MSU. The RN is a practitioner responsible for assessing, planning, prioritizing, organizing, administering, and evaluating patient care for a group of critically ill patients. This position is required to float to all areas within in the acute care depending of patient acuity and needs of the organization at the discretion of the Bed Tower Nurse Manager or designee.
Ã? Establish an effective relationship with the patient and significant others to facilitate the development of the care plan.
Ã? Use the nursing process to develop and implement the plan of care: collect appropriate assessment data for each client, determine appropriate nursing diagnoses, identify expected client outcomes, determine the plan of care, implement interventions, and evaluate client outcomes.
Ã? Develop assessment and management strategies based on a consideration of the physical, functional, cultural, social, economic, developmental, and spiritual dimensions of human responses to actual and potential problems.
Ã? Demonstrate knowledge of the impact of actual or potential illness on the patient's developmental, physical, social, emotional, age, spiritual, economic, vocational, and leisure status.
Ã? Coordinate and collaborate with patients, families, communities, and members of the interdisciplinary team in assessing needs, setting goals, planning interventions, providing care, and evaluating outcomes.
Ã? Apply the existing body of scientific knowledge in health care to critical care nursing practice.
Ã? Participate with patients, families, and other health care providers in collaborative decision making that reflects the understanding that care should be culturally sensitive, ethical, legal, informed, compassionate and humane, and within the boundaries of available economic resources.
Ã? Educate patients and significant others about measures that promote, maintain, and restore health or promote comfort.
Ã? One year of critical care experience within the last 3 years
Ã? Experience as a registered nurse within the last two years.
Ã? Current BLS and ACLS certification through the American Heart Association
Ã? Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program.
Ã? Ability to read, write legibly and comprehend the written and spoken word in English; basic computer literacy and ability to effectively learn new software programs.
Ã? Graduate of a Master's Entry in Nursing Program (MEPN).
Ã? Graduate of Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) master's program with national certification.
Ã? Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in critical care nursing and/or current certification as a Certified Critical Care Nurse from the American Association of Critical Care Nurses.
Ã? Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Bachelor's in a healthcare related field.
