BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must meet all the requirements identified in the VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G2, Physician Qualification Standards http://vaww1.va.gov/ohrm/HRLibrary/Dir-Policy.htm Citizenship: U.S Citizenship is required (Noncitizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens). Education: Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. Licensure: Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. English Language Proficiency: Applicants appointed to direct patient care positions must be proficient in spoken and written English.
Preferred experience:Acute care and previous health administration experience is strongly desired
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Physical Requirements: Moderate lifting (15-44 pounds), light lifting (under 15 pounds), moderate carrying (15-44 pounds), light carrying(under 15 pounds), pushing 4 hours, reaching above shoulder, use offingers, both hands required, walking 2 hours, standing 8 hours, near vision correctableat 13" to 16" to Jaeger 1 to 4,far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and to 20/40 in the other, hearing (aid permitted), mental and emotional stability.
