The Staff Dermatologist will report to the Chief, Dermatology Service of the Phoenix VA Health Care System. The incumbent has clinical responsibilities under the guidance and direction of the Chief, Dermatology Service.
The incumbent will participate, oversee and collaborate to ensure that all applicable clinical functions, which include, outpatient, inpatient consultative and telemedicine consultative medical care are performed. The Staff Dermatologist will be required to provide clinical, administrative and education responsibilities, but not limited to, the items listed below:
- Attends and provides input to the outpatient clinical management and other committees and councils, as needed.
- Attends clinical and administrative staff meetings.
- Actively promotes performance improvement measures within the Service.
- Collaborate with other physicians to ensure proper education of medical students and residents, and Dermatology residents in the new Dermatology residency program.
- Maintains CME, State Medical License, and VA mandatory training prior to expiration.
The selected applicant will be responsible for supervising residents and medical students.

Functional Statement Title: Staff Dermatologist
Citizenship of the United States. Noncitizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with Department of Veterans Affairs policy.
Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Completion of a third year (PGY4) residency of an ACGME accredited Dermatology residency program and Dermatology board certified or board eligible by the American Board of Dermatology.
Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Physical Requirements: The selected applicant will be required to complete fingerprints, physical examination, physical, credentialing and background investigation.
