Assistant Chief of Quality and Performance for Medical Care Line
The Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center (MEDVAMC) is seeking an Assistant Chief for Medical Care Line .The candidate should have a strong interest and experience in administrative, clinical, quality improvement and academic activities; demonstrate excellence in teaching; have an effective working relationship with individuals at all points on the continuum of care; have excellent interpersonal and communication skills; demonstrate an ability to wield influence and work in partnership to move initiatives forward, and commitment to institutional service . The applicant is expected to fulfill the clinical, academic and administrative missions of the care line, and should qualify for academic appointment at our affiliate, Baylor College of Medicine, at the Assistant /Associate Professor level; and should be board certified in internal medicine or medicine subspecialties. Work Schedule: Day shift to include nights, weekends and holidays, as needed.

Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Must have completed residency training or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Preferred Experience: Board Certification is preferred.

Physical Requirements:?, Light Lifting (15lbs and under); Light Carrying (15lbs and under), use of fingers and both hands required; walking (up to 3 hours); standing (up to 3 hours); ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously; near vision correctable at 13" to 16"; Hearing (aid permitted); mental and emotional stability.
