Role includes answering telephones, greeting and assisting visitors and will perfom tasks that assist with admissions, coordination of care, and discharge processes. Will possess good communication, interpersonal and organization skills and must be able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while providing exceptional customer service.
Serves as receptionist for incoming and outgoing calls and visitor information.
Assists with admission and discharge Meditech entry
Assists with patient registration and admission paperwork as needed
Assists with patient transportation arrangements
May assist with therapy schedule updates and responsible for the distribution of the schedules after completed.
May assist with hanging ADL signs and the distribution of Memory Books .
Interacts frequently with unit personnel, physicians, visitors, patients' families and other ancillary hospital personnel for the purpose of giving and receiving information.
Duties may include answering patient lights, and fulfilling patient request for non-care items. Requires professional, courteous, and helpful manner in all contacts with customers.
Position involves multi-tasking in a high stress environment. Requires constant mental alertness and the ability to calmly and accurately perform duties when subjected to frequent and varied interruptions.
Must have the ability to exercise judgment and initiative in the resolution of problems encountered,
Ensures that all patient and unit equipment, supplies and procedures are ordered and received.
Sets up follow up appointments for patients and enters this information on the AVS in the EMR.
Assists in ordering radiology and diagnostic appointments for patients.
Other duties as assigned.
Adheres to dress code, appearance is neat and clean.
Maintains regulatory requirements, including all state, federal and Joint Commission regulations.
Maintains and ensures patient confidentiality at all times.
Reports to work on time and as scheduled.
Wears identification while on duty.
Attends departmental in-services and completes annual competencies/education requirements.
Works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians, departments and staff.
Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
Complies with policies and procedures regarding department operations, fire, safety, infection control and emergency management.
Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the hospital, as well as the focus statement of the department.
High school diploma required, with two years of college level education preferred.
Prior experience in a hospital setting is preferred.
Must have the ability to work with all levels of medical personnel, patients and families,
Ability to speak and write concisely with knowledge of medical terminology desirable.
