The Towson University Women's and Gender Studies department invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position with a specialization in Women and Health beginning August 2019. We seek a candidate with applied health teaching and research experience, not a cultural studies approach to women's health.
ABD's may apply but PhD is required by August, 2019. Candidates with a PhD in fields other than Women's and Gender Studies or Health/Health Sciences will be considered if their research and teaching demonstrate knowledge and effective use of current theories, methodologies and substantive findings relevant to the discipline of Women's and Gender Studies. We seek a scholar/teacher who has an extensive background in intersectional feminist theories and methodologies as they pertain to women's health and health care systems and policies at the national and/or global levels.
Teaching load will be 3-3 for the first year and 3-4 thereafter. The candidate will be required to teach a graduate level core course on Women and Health in the Department's applied Master's degree program in Women's and Gender Studies. Teaching responsibilities will also include introductory level women's studies courses in the undergraduate program; upper level undergraduate courses in the candidate's area of interest and expertise; and possibly other graduate level courses. We especially welcome applications from candidates with sub-specialties in women of color, immigration, transnational feminisms, LGBTQ+ communities, and/or indigenous women's movements.
