This brand new, 38-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital will be opening in the Summer of 2019 and we are seeking an energetic, creative and experienced Per-Diem Pharmacist to join our team now and help us meet the growing demand for intensive rehabilitation services.

As a Per-Diem Pharmacist you will:
Work in collaboration with the Director of Pharmacy and according to standard procedure compounds and dispenses medications and pharmaceutical supplies up receiving written prescriptions from the physician. Participates on Performance Improvement plans within the hospital. Consults with and advises Administration, Medical Staff and hospital staff on quality, regulatory and risk issues within the organization. Supports and serves as consultant to all clinical and Medical Staff. Assists the Director in coordinating and implementing the activities of the Pharmacy. Interprets medication orders, compounds and dispenses medication and other pharmaceutical preparations in accordance with the legal, ethical and professional standards of pharmacy practice. Supervises the technical support staff. Assists with clinical, quality management and education programs. Provides support for all departments with respect to the care of all patients aged 18 through the geriatric population ages 65 and older.
Atlantic Rehabilitation Institute is seeking for a Per-Diem Pharmacist for the pharmacy department working primarily day shift and weekend as needed based on Department need.
Fills orders with correct medication in the range of treatment needed by the following patients as appropriate to the ages served by the hospital: Adult and Geriatric.
Dispenses medications, prescriptions, miscellaneous items accurately and promptly.
Checking: Checks unit dose accurately making corrections to patient profiles if necessary. Checks medications before being placed in automated dispensing cabinet and floor stock to assure accurate fill. Checks IVs, batching, patient own medications, repackaging and extemporaneous preparations for accuracy. Checks crash cart trays.
Automated Dispensing Cabinet: Displays working knowledge of departmental automation and equipment as it pertains to their role in dispensing, checking, preparing and tracking medications.
Sterile Preparations: Prepares, supervises and ensures aseptic compounding of IVs correctly and in a timely manner promoting efficiency and cost effectiveness. Reviews levels of batched IV medications, batches, supplies to avoid waste, documents all required information, and assures batches are checked. Demonstrates a strong knowledge base of sterile technique.
Drug information: Participates in the maintenance and dissemination of drug information through in-service education of hospital personnel, consultation with patients, hospital and Medical staff.
Checks technician prepared products prior to release. Ensures Technician maintains I.V. refrigerator temperature and hood cleaning logs.
Strong communication and information technology skills.
Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy required, Doctor of Pharmacy preferred
Current state license in good standing.
Minimum of 1 year of hospital pharmacy experience required including sterile IV compounding. Working knowledge of OSHA, JCAHO, HCFA and state guidelines
Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy with Pharmacist degree.
Current state license in good standing.
Minimum of three (3) months of experience in pharmacy. Working knowledge of OSHA, JCAHO, HCFA and state guidelines. Experience in facilitating teams. Experience in writing policies and procedures.
