Position Summary:

The Utilization Review Coordinator will monitor adherence to the hospital's utilization review plan to ensure the effectiveness and efficient use of hospital services. He /she will monitor the appropriateness of hospital admissions and extended hospital stays, tracking patient authorizations with the identified payer and updating with reviews to ensure coverage. The UR Coordinator reports to the Director, Utilization Management.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Ability to project a professional image
• Familiar with InterQual Clinical Development Process 2018 as a guideline, calculates the lengths of stay and continued-stay days for patients
• Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements and hospital policies and procedures
• Working knowledge and ability to apply professional and ethical standards of practice in job situations
• Strong organizational and analytical skills
• Must demonstrate flexibility to meet the needs of all patients
• Working knowledge of computer and software applications used in job functions (order entry, data entry)

Education and/or Experience:

• If RN or LPN, current state license in good standing by the state of employment, and must be maintained throughout employment
• Possess formal training in Behavioral Health Treatment, Master's degree in a Behavioral Health field of study (e.g. Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, etc.) preferred
• Minimum one (1) to two (2) years Utilization Review experience in a psychiatric or mental health treatment setting, preferred

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

• Current CPR certification and Handle with Care training required prior to any patient contact and must be maintained throughout employment.
