Some exclusions may apply. The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at St. Catherine Hospital is an eight-bed ICU. We staff an intensivist 24 hours per day, we care for a wide range of patients from sepsis, COPD exacerbation, respiratory distress, pneumonia, heat failure, GI bleed, renal failure and overdose. We take care of patients with art lines, central lines, intubations, procedures and telemetry monitoring for floor patients as well. We occasionally receive over flow from the med/surg floor if they are full. Job summary:This position assumes responsibility and accountability for facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with both the healthcare team, and the patient/family to identify and meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the patient. You will promote the optimal health, well-being and safety of the patient through use of the nursing process and in accordance with patient care standards, guidelines and the State Nurse Practice Act, and demonstrate personal accountability for relationship-based care, organizational mission, and core values.What You Bring/Job Requirements:In addition to bringing your whole self to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following: * RN License required; Current KS state nursing licenses or RN license from a participating state in the National Licensure Compact[ ](https://dpo.colorado.gov/Nursing/Compact)* Nursing Diploma or Associates Degree in Nursing required; Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred* Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required for new graduates, preferred for experienced RN's* BLS from the American Heart Association required upon hire or within 8 weeks of hire* ACLS and PALS from the American Heart Association required within six months of hire or transfer* NIHSS required within six months of hire or transfer* TCAR preferred* One year RN experience preferred* Nursing skills and knowledge base specific to specialtyPhysical Requirements - Medium Work - (Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantlyYour Connected Community:St. Catherine Hospital, located in Garden City, KS, was founded by two pioneering physicians and the Dominican Sisters.
