SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The 8 North Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at Penn State Health Holy Spirit is a 11 bed unit that operates as a step down progressive care unit (PCU). The RN Clinical Staff Leader is responsible for assisting in supervising nursing staff; for providing leadership and orientation to nursing personnel; and for performing a variety of nursing duties in order to coordinate the delivery of care to patients.
The RN Clinical Staff Leader (CSL) is a fundamental managerial role within Penn State Health, responsible for ensuring the delivery of, safe, effective, high-quality patient care while fostering a culture of excellence within the nursing team. The CSL will be actively involved in clinical care delivery while also assuming leadership responsibilities to support the achievement of optimal patient outcomes. This role requires a combination of clinical expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement. This position requires a dynamic individual with strong clinical skills, leadership abilities, and a dedication to continuous process improvement.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required
2-3 years RN registered nurse experience in acute care setting
Previous work experience in a supervisory, management or other healthcare leadership capacity
Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse by state of employment or holds a multistate RN license through the interstate Nurse Licensure Compact.
BLS required prior to orientation completion.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Update Smart Square scheduling system as needed.
Participate in unit and/or hospital-based committees to contribute to organizational initiatives.
Report compliance issues and operational needs to Nurse Manager/Assistant Nurse Manager.
Follow up on audits and provide support to individuals requiring improvement.
Conduct crucial conversations and Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) as necessary.
Share audit trends and best practices during huddles and shared governance meetings.
Assist Nurse Manager/Assistant Nurse Manager/Educator with competencies or interview processes as needed.
